Do you want to be more physical and paint vivid images for the audience in your scenes? Do you want to own those moments with your group, taking the reigns together and using the power of space and composition to drive the emotions to a higher level?

The wonderful Daniel Orrantia practice pushes the boundaries between improvisation and physical theatre, bringing elements of clowning, mime, comics and painting as tools for expression and storytelling.

COMPOSITION: USING SPACE ON STAGE

Live performance takes place in a three-dimensional space. The way we approach this has a direct and strong effect on what we communicate as performers. By exploring ways in which space is manipulated and expressed in pictures, images, and other two-dimensional representations, we will develop new tools to play and transform the way we address the stage making our shows a more theatrical experience. Participants should have experience in the world of improvisation.

This 10 hour 2-day weekend workshop for intermediate/advanced improvisers will empower you to take the stage like you know you can and tell stories in a richer, more dynamic way.

About Daniel Orrantia, in his own words:

My practice pushes the boundaries between improvisation and physical theatre, bringing elements of clowning, mime, comics and painting as tools for expression and storytelling. I have been designing workshops and directing shows for different groups and festivals around the world.

Additionally, I have run design workshops for schools with young children and teenagers from different countries and backgrounds. As a performer, I have toured the world with Speechless, an improvised show without words. I founded and currently run a company called PICNIC, specialized in creating devised work, collaborating with different artists who bring inspiration from diverse areas. Together with this team I founded and direct the MonkeyFest - an annual impro theater festival that happens in Colombia since 2011.

--> On a personal note, Daniel's work has blown us away with his ability to express emotion and tell stories without speaking a single word. Like a painting in front of your eyes... So when he said he'd be in Europe for a tour, we jumped on it to make sure we could get a weekend with him.

Join us as we bump up our play using the power of space and composition! To participate, please message us here or email colin@scratchtheater.com ASAP and we'll let you know how to pay. We're excited for you to join!
