It is the early 1930s. Times are brutal. Life is all grind.
The Great Depression casts its ugly pall over this once prosperous city. In a grungy back alley, a tired gaslamp flickers. Greasy light spills into pools of shadow. A hunched figure gently lays another tightly swaddled bundle on the cold stone steps and slinks away into the night.
Follow Scratch Theater’s Company Players as we open the creaking double doors of the city’s most notorious orphanage and tell the stories—all improvised on the spot—of the abandoned children we find inside.
They have no parents, no family, no prospects. Instead, they have street-smarts. They have imagination. And they have each other… Is it enough?
Join us at Aufsturz at 8pm on 28 September 2019 as Scratch Theater presents the first two episodes of their provocative new series: The Orphans.
As always the Scratch Company players will be accompanied on piano by the wonderful and talented Andrés Atala-Quezada!
Bar open at 19:45. Show at 20:00.
